01 May EASY ISN’T JUST A FEELING ANYMORE!
As my wife and I were shown our seats in a family style restaurant, my attention was drawn to the next table where a three-year-old girl was playing with an iPad. I was surprised and amused by the skill that a three-year-old shows with this device. I elbowed my wife and said “look at that three-year-old with the iPad isn’t that amazing? My wife, who is the Director of an early learning childhood center turned to me and said, “all of the three-year-olds at my school know how to use an iPad, it’s not unusual because it’s so easy”.
The word easy began ricocheting in my head. Easy? That little device required the brightest computer programmers and engineers’ years to develop. The investment, the trial and error, and the plan to mass manufacture required an enormous amount of anguish and effort. While designing this feature rich device they had another goal, it had to be easy to use. So easy it could be enjoyed by a 3-year-old!
I realized that people don’t value a product on how much time, investment, effort and skill was required to create it, they just want the item to meet their expectations, be easy to use and be affordable.
